Vision
In order to have a better chance in the hard reality of Iquitos, a child should minimally have access to:
- Nourishment and Care;
- Loving surroundings with attention to standards and values;
- Stimulation of their cognitive, emotional and creative development;
- Building an adequate of level of self-esteem and self-confidence.
Because the number of children who do not have access to the above mentioned necessities is many times greater than the number that El Manguaré can help every year, we intensively work together municipal authorities, schools, teachers and parents to expand our reach and resources. This increases the range within the target group, and there is mutual transfer of knowledge, guarantying the continuity of the programs of El Manguaré.
Over the next few years our intention is that the programs we have begun with El Manguaré can be run self-sufficiently so that we may move on the next underprivileged neighborhood.
Mission
El Manguaré will help break through the vicious cycle of child neglect by providing access to the following programs:
- ‘Day Care and Education’ for neglected children of working- , young- and single-mothers, in cooperation with their mothers (Participation Project)
- ‘Back-to-School’ for children from 6 to 14 years.
- ‘Quality of Education’ to improve the schools of poor neighborhoods.
